Frequently Asked Questions
Which format should I use for web images?
WebP offers the best compression-to-quality ratio for web use. Use PNG for images that need transparency with lossless quality. Use JPEG for photographs where file size matters more than pixel-perfect quality.
Can I convert PNG to JPEG without losing transparency?
JPEG does not support transparency. When converting a PNG with transparency to JPEG, transparent areas are filled with a background color (white by default). You can choose a custom background color in the settings.
What is the difference between lossy and lossless formats?
Lossy formats like JPEG and WebP (lossy mode) discard some data to achieve smaller files. Lossless formats like PNG and WebP (lossless mode) preserve every pixel exactly. Lossy is better for photographs; lossless is better for graphics, icons, and screenshots.
